COURSE OVERVIEW

The PRINCE2® method (Projects in Controlled Environments) is internationally accepted as the leading "best practice" project management approach. Adopted by many government and private enterprises and practiced by +750,000 users world-wide, PRINCE2 is a project management methodology that benefits projects of different types and sizes. . The method is scalable and can be tailored to reflect any organization's existing standards, approaches and business.
This course outlines the basic principles of project-oriented working according to the Office of Government Commerce (OGC’s) PRINCE2® methodology. Upon completion of this course, delegates will have a basic knowledge and understanding of Project Management and project-based work.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

Delegates will be able to organize, plan and control projects quickly and effectively in accordance with the PRINCE2® Methodology. The outcome of this knowledge is the enhanced ability to improve the success rates of projects, and increase the chances of projects being completed on time, within budget and within defined quality deliverables. Senior Managers attending the course will be able to make decisions on project initiation and continuation on the basis of hard facts. At the end of the Foundation course participants will understand:

  • Structured Approach To Managing Projects 
    Setting the scene for a structured approach to managing all projects; project success criteria; a model of the PRINCE2® Method.
  • The Process-Based Approach To Project Management 
    PRINCE2® focuses on the key processes needed for successful project management. These processes must be present but may be tuned to reflect the scope and risks faced by the Project Team.
  • Organization 
    The Project Organization Structure; Key Decision Makers; Project Board; Project Manager; Project Support; Project Teams; Roles & Responsibilities Defined.
  • Plans 
    Management and Specialist Products; Product Based Planning; Activity Planning; Resource Planning; Quality Plans; Approach to Planning; Software Support and the PRINCE2® Environment.
  • Project Controls 
    Project Board Controls - Project Start Up, Initiation and Closure, End Stage Assessments, Tolerance & Exception; Project Manager and Team Controls – Work Packages, Checkpoint Reporting, Quality Review.
  • Project Initiation, the Business Case & Risk 
    Project Initiation Document - Content and Process; Business Case; Risk Analysis and Risk Management; Decision Support.

METHODOLOGY AND COURSE LENGTH

This 3 1/2 day Course is blended with webx and class room style .This includes 3 day interactive Webex presentations in wider screen and 1/2 day class room lectures on exam preparation and exam revision.

PREREQUISITES

It is recommended that delegates commit 10-20 hours preparing for this course by reviewing and completing the following pre- course preparation materials. This material is dispatched to delegates two weeks prior to the start of the course.

PREREQUISITES & COURSE PREPARATION

This is a very intense course with about 10 to 25 hours of pre-course work, including reading and completing several exercises. There is approximately 1.5 hours of homework assignments per night.

EXAM, CERTIFICATION & AWARDS

      • This course prepares participants for the examination leading to the PRINCE2 Foundations certification. A 60-minute closed book exam occurs at the end of the course. The exam consists of 75 multiple choice questions. A passing mark of 50% is required to receive your certificate
      • You will attain 21 professional development units (PDUs) for Project Managers
